Does The Government Endorse HELOC Programs
No.
HELOCs are private bank loans and are not federally regulated. On the other
hand, the government does endorse reverse mortgages despite the enormous fees (e.g.
$15,000+ for $250K) and hidden clauses that tend to take advantage of the elderly.
In short, don’t trust a government to do what is best for its citizens – only what
is best for itself and maintaining control.
