What If The Debt Is Private & Doesn't Report to Credit Bureaus

The wet-ink argument is all that exists for private debts that do not report to credit bureaus. If the creditor did not sell the note to the Federal Reserve, a debt collector or fund the loan with outside assets - it remains private. Virtually all private debts must be paid back.

NOTE: There is always the ability to reach out to the creditor and work out a payment plan for a reduced amount (usually ~50% less). Typically a private organization is willing accept the offer because something is better than nothing.
